The Theta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega hosts an annual lipsyncing competition to raise money for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC). Student groups and friends around campus may register an act to perform on Saturday, April 26, 2008, from 8:00 - 11:00 PM, in the Johnson Ice Arena and compete for prizes provided by popular businesses in Boston and Cambridge. Because the Theta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega focuses on Domestic Violence Awareness, all proceeds from LipSync will go to BARCC, the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. BARCC provides free, culturally sensitive, age-appropriate services to survivors of rape and sexual assault regardless of sex, race, physical/developmental disabilities, income, ethnicity, class, age, religion, or sexual orientation. Services provided by BARCC include a 24-hour hotline, legal assistance, accompanimant to the hospital emergency department, assistance with post-assault issues, and community awareness and prevention services. All registered acts must participate in an act screening on Tuesday, April 22. Available times start at 12:00 PM in the Porter Room in Burton Connor. Act screening is to preview the appropriateness of song(s) and acts, and to ensure that groups are on schedule. Please bring any music or props that will be used the night of the show.
Dress Rehearsals will begin on April 26, 2008 at 9:00 AM in the Johnson Ice Arena. All acts must attend a scheduled time slot and should be prepared with any music, props, and outfits that will be used later that night at the show. This will be the groups chance to perfect music/lighting/etc.
